It began with an idea. An antidote to stand-up comedy, where people would meet, share stories and speak from the heart. We wanted truth and we wanted passion. Natural Born Storytellers was born. 

We met in a room above The Camden Head and our first show had the theme 'The Worst Experience of my Life'. We thought it would be hilarious.

It wasn't.

It was brutal, raw and, in some cases profoundly disturbing.

And we were totally hooked. 

We've been telling stories ever since. We create a friendly, warm and supportive atmosphere and people from all walks of like take to our stage (or couch) to share some of the greatest stories from their own lives. 

Our stories have been heard across London and at festivals such as Shambala and Tellit, the UK's first festival of true-life storytelling, which was created by Michael Kossew, the founder of NBS when he decided to combine his two favourite passions, true-life storytelling and festivals to create a festival of truth and stories. He gathered a team of festival producers drawn from storytellers, audience and the world of theatre and within the space of a year they had devised, created and run the inaugural Tellit Festival. 

Michael has created true storytelling workshops for audience members and the public to release their inner storyteller in a safe and supportive environment. Michael's expert guidance gives people confidence to turn their life events into captivating true stories. Workshops have ranged from festival crowds, to bespoke one-on-one sessions. 

At the end of 2018 we tried out Natural Born Storytellers in a new London venue, Backyard Comedy Club, in Bethnal Green to great success. We will be holding quarterly events there as we try expand the reach of NBS throughout London and the UK.

2019 will see us launch our very own podcast where we’ll release stories that have been told this month as well as digging into our archives for our favourite past tales.

Great stories just keep coming and we love finding new storytellers too. We're still in our little room above our pub in Camden Town on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and in various other places throughout the year. Come along, share a tale, sit back and listen and and become part of our story.
